Police announced Wednesday night that they have taken a person of interest into custody in the murder of a 7-Eleven clerk.

Colten Jon Moore, 18, has been charged with capital murder in the death of Yosef Tulu. The arrest came after police executed a search warrant at Moore’s address in the 2900 block of Creek Valley Drive.

Moore’s bond has been set at $1 million.

Tulu, 30, was working at the Garland 7-Eleven store off Firewheel Parkway to save money to go home to Ethiopia and get married.

Surveillance video from Tuesday’s early morning attack shows the gunman walk in armed and face covered. Police said Tulu complied with all the robber’s demands, yet he was still shot.

7-Eleven also announced it is helping the family pay to have the body returned to Ethiopia and is offering counseling services to any store employees affected by the shooting.
