Despite below freezing temperatures, hundreds gathered at a candlelight memorial Thursday night to pay respects to a 31-year-old 7-Eleven clerk who was murdered Tuesday.
A prayerful Ethiopian song echoed through the freezing North Texas night as nearly 300 family members, friends and neighbors came to remember Yosef Tulu.
His dream was to raise enough money to bring his fiancée to the U.S. to marry.
Many who attended the vigil were regular customers.
Family members were moved by the large crowd that came to remember Tulu, and they said they are thankful for the Garland Police Department’s quick arrest.
A wake is scheduled for Tulu on Saturday in Garland.
