Communiqué

The National Council of Unity for Democracy and Justice Party held an emergency meeting on Friday, August 25, 2012 in which it adopted the following Resolutions  following the passing away of The Prime Minister of Ethiopia Ato Meles Zenawi.

  1. The National Council of Unity for Democracy and Justice Party underscored in its communiqué that the transition to Power following the passing away of the Prime Minister should be based on the basis of the Constitutional order while maintaining the sovereignty of the Country.
  1. The Executive Council of the Party has been instructed to work jointly with The Ethiopian Federal Democratic Unity Forum (MEDREK), in producing a document that would serve as a starting point for a consultative meeting for a National Dialogue on the issues of the current political situations of the Country.
  1. To ensure the firm foundation of the Party at the grassroots level, henceforth, every member of the National Council is instructed to take the lead in organizing members at the Woreda, and Kebele levels as soon as possible.
  1. The Executive Council of the Party strongly asking all political prisoners & journalists shall be free.
