Oromo students of the Ambo, Medawelabu, Adama and Dire Dawa universities are demonstrating in opposition to the new Addis Ababa’s Master Plan.

Due to the demonstrations, classes are closed down as sources told DireTube News. Especially in Adama, Dire Dawa and Ambo Universities as sources said the opposition was strong. Though the draft master plan of Addis Ababa is being discussed by authorities, the students are complaining that the master plan is including neighboring areas of Oromia to Addis and in the process violating the constitution.

Some observers commented that the students might not be well informed about the integrated master plan of Addis which resulted in these campus protests. “If the government were to close the gap by well informing and let the community discuss on it, such unrests might not occur” They commented.
