Videos have emerged of three African students nearly being lynched in the New Delhi metro. Accused of sexual harassment, they were beaten with chairs and sticks as a mob screamed at them.
The students, who were attacked in Rajiv Chowk Metro station on Sunday, do not want to be identified and named for fear of being attacked again, police said.

Police said initially, the youths were mistaken for Nigerians. However, a probe revealed that two of the boys are from Gabon while the third is from Burkina Faso.
“Police have registered a case of rioting after a mob damaged a police booth in Rajiv Chowk police booth. CCTV camera footage from the station is being examined. All aspects of the incident are being looked into under the current FIR,” Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) M K Meena said.
“The three boys are pursuing their MBA from a private college in Greater Noida,” a senior police officer said. They are residing in Greater Noida on student visas, police said.
On Sunday, they had visited friends in Vasant Vihar and were returning to Greater Noida via the Yellow Line — Jahangirpuri to HUDA City Centre.
Police said the three were attacked by a mob onboard the train first. The mob then followed them onto the platform when the train stopped at Rajiv Chowk.
When police took the boys to the Delhi Police kiosk, the mob surrounded the booth and smashed the glass façade. On realising that they were cornered, the three boys climbed onto the roof of the kiosk in a bid to escape the frenzied crowd.
The boys were rescued by CISF personnel who were called in to control the situation. They were admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and discharged the same day, police said.
