Germany wants to boost relations, cooperation withEthiopia.

ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia’s government has said that Germany is keen on boosting development cooperation with the East Africancountry.

According to a press statement from the government here, Germany’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Lesilore Saires has said her country “will intensify its cooperation with Ethiopia with a view to assisting Ethiopia’s ongoing development and democratization process.”

The Ambassador, while speaking at the 22nd Anniversary of Germany Unification on Wednesday, noted Germany “will continue its development assistance to Ethiopia.”

Saires also hailed the peaceful power transition conducted to replace the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.

The government said Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn will “step up development activities commenced by the late Premier.”

The ambassador also pointed out that Ethiopia and Germany “have established deep rooted historical, cultural, economic and bi-lateral ties.”

She said her country was interested to excel the existing relations with Ethiopia.

According to her, “Germany will provide assistance to Ethiopia’s green development endeavors, in addition to extending support to Ethiopia’s effort to ensure peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.”
