The Council of Ministers approved a 320 billion Birr budget proposal for the upcoming
Ethiopian fiscal year of 2010.
The council allocated 81,839,528,572 birr for basic expense and 114,703,641,453 was
allocated as capital
114.7 billion birr for capital expenditures and 81.8 billion birr for recurrent expenditures which
includes administrative, economic and social services. 117.2 billion birr is given for regions
while 7 billion will be used for sustainable development projects.
There has been a 9.6% budget increase compared to the previous year budget proposal. The
budget plan is now waiting for the approval of the house of parliament.
