THE long-awaited, hi-tech and majestic Boeing B787, landed in Zimbabwe recently. Diplomats, business people and travel agents were part of the delegation that welcomed this humongous air bus into Harare. The Ethiopian Ambassador to Zimbabwe gave a remarkable account of the aircraft, including the strong bilateral ties which exist between Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. Senior government officials, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority officials, Algeria, Kenyan, Nigerian and EU Ambassadors also graced the occassion.

Ethiopian Airlines becomes the first airline in the world outside Japan to operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The first Ethiopian (African) Dreamliner touched down in Addis Ababa at Bole International Airport on August 17 2012.
The first flight of Ethiopian Dreamliner, dubbed “The Dream Tour,†was on August 18 2012, with a sightseeing flight to Mount Kilimanjaro for around 270 invited guests, consisting of ministers, ambassadors, other VIPs, Ethiopian ShebaMiles Gold Members and the media.
Thereafter, starting from August 19 2012, the first Ethiopian Dreamliner will be operating on rotation basis to African destinations such as Kilimanjaro, Mombassa, Harare, Lusaka, Nairobi, Entebbe, Lagos, Johannesburg, Abuja, Malabo, Douala, Lomé, Accra, Maputo, Luanda as well as to Dubai, Mumbai, Rome, London and Frankfurt.
With its acquisition of and firm orders for several new modern fleet, the airline is well-positioned to pursue aggressively the implementation of its 2025 strategic plan to become the leading aviation group in Africa.
