President Goodluck Jonathan

By Muhammad Bello

President Goodluck Joathan has dissociated himself from reports of  the revocation of the N3.6billion three-year contract with Manitoba Hydro International of Canada for the management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The president said the matter will be resolved Tuesday next week. “I have given the relevant agencies until Tuesday to get things done.”

An exclusive report by THISDAY had hitherto given a detailed account of the revocation by President Goodluck Jonathan. The president Sunday explained that what transpired was that there were some matters that needed clarification  following the new procurement law of the country.

He added that government was being careful and tried to avoid mistakes, so “Manitoba contract has not been revoked. There were some issues raised. There were some confusion on the status of Manitoba because of the new procurement law. We saw some loopholes that were not properly done. It is good to when government is doing something, to do it properly.”
