Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) Ashenafi Ejegu, Secretary General of the Ethiopia Football Federation was fired from his position today. His deputy, Birhanu Kebede, had submitted letter of resignation and the request has been approved by the executive committee of the federation.
The immediate removal of the federation officials was made in the aftermath of FIFA’s disciplinary proceedings against the Ethiopian team. FIFA announced on Sunday that it was investigating allegations that Ethiopia had fielded an ineligible player, Minyahile Beyene in a qualifier against Botswana on June 8, 2013. Ethiopia officials have admitted the allegations and are resigned to being stripped of three points, potentially handing South Africa and Botswana a 2014 lifeline.
The Ethiopian Football Federation’s general assembly is currently underway at the Ghion hotel in Addis Ababa and is expected to pass various decisions later today.for more click hereÂ
